Colorado Lottery – Atari

Our friends at Cactus came to us with a great opportunity to help bring back those classic (and corny) television spots from the 80’s to market the Colorado Lottery’s New Atari Scratch Tickets. We went to work, laughing mostly, to edit, design, animate and color these spots in just the right way to get that right look.

Cactus had launched this campaign for the Colorado Lottery’s new $5 ATARI Scratch ticket series. The tickets feature art from Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede and Missile Command. As part of the campaign, a :30 spot pays homage to an ATARI 2600 commercial from the ‘80s. The original spot featured the glorious wardrobe, hairstyles, hokey rap and skewed camera work of the era. The new spot is a parody that trades cartridges for Scratch tickets and loosely imagines the original cast all grown up. The soundtrack is an awkwardly catchy rap-jingle that proclaims, “The fun is back!”
