For our fourth consecutive year, we had the privilege of working closely with the NATAS team to develop the graphics package for the 2024 Daytime Emmys celebration.
In addition to the 51st Daytime Awards, our team also developed complementary branding for the 45th Sports Emmys, 45th News & Documentary Emmys, 75th Technology & Engineering Emmys, as well as a comprehensive graphics toolkit designed to be easily versioned across the National Chapters.
The Emmys package is built on a foundation of typography that strives to be modern, while also paying homage to the history of the awards. Focusing on negative space, inversion and varied line weights, a system was developed to provide consistency across all events.
As the premier awards for many coveted categories across television, we explored the cinematic qualities of how light interacts with glass through a camera lens. By integrating branded colors and forced perspective techniques, we achieved a strikingly vibrant visual identity for the 2024 shows.
With a branding identity developed, we moved on to what we do best.
Taking a style guide and adapting it into a branded Motion Identity System. In this phase, we created a holistic package that defines how graphics behave on-screen, in live settings, and across digital and social platforms.
Beyond crafting the national design identity, there needed to be a sub-set of Chapter versions.
With the lighting and integration of elements being quite tricky, a toolkit was developed to allow each chapter to version out the awards show with a minimal footprint on their design team.
Populating eight stage screens with our library of work, the majority of the effort was spent directing the LED team under the guidance of the show's Director and Executive Producers. We choreographed all the graphics according to the run of show and the Director's specific vision. Between developing new elements, adjusting existing ones, handling unexpected technical difficulties, and managing logistical challenges, we were prepared and excited for a big weekend of shows after a long week of rehearsals.
