For the first time in 30 years, Erik and Lyle Menendez speak out in the new Netflix documentary The Menendez Brothers.
Spillt was entrusted with creating a graphics package that would embody the dark and tragic nature of this infamous case. The visuals we developed are sharp and tense, capturing not only the intensity of the public's obsession during the original trial but also the ongoing media spectacle surrounding the brothers today.
The new documentary sailed straight to the front of Netflix's Top 10, capturing over 22.7 million viewers in its first week.
Many early ideas, no matter how innovative or well-crafted, often get set aside during iteration.
These unused concepts, while not part of the final product, play a crucial role in shaping the overall direction for our partner, helping to refine the vision and narrow down the best approach for the final execution.
Spillt created nearly 40 percent of the compelling content for this feature-length documentary.
Our contributions played a pivotal role in uncovering and articulating the hidden narrative behind 30 years' worth of archival materials which include photographs, handwritten letters, drawings, court documents, prison interviews, and much more.
The release of this story goes beyond 22.7 million views in the first week.
While rocketing to the top movie on Netflix upon its release, this documentary created an even larger response. Alongside new evidence related to the trial, a story was brought back into the spotlight three decades later. We are all waiting on the ending at this point, but our team is happy to be part of bringing a new light on an old story.
